SHAKA WAVES FOR WOMEN

What is Shaka Waves?

Shaka Waves has been created especially for women of all ages and abilities, to be able to come together and develop confidence and skills in the sea. It's an opportunity for you to try out paddle boarding or surfing alongside other like-minded women in a safe, comfortable, and relaxed environment.

Most importantly, it’s about having fun - and time for you to dedicate to you!

What does a session normally consist of?

A typical Shaka Waves session will normally last around 2 hours and includes:

  • Welcome… A chance to get to know your female instructors and the other participants in a safe, relaxed environment.

  • Warm-up… A short breathing/relaxation exercise to help get you feeling positive and energised, followed by a gentle yoga-based warm up that’s adapted for all.

  • On-land practise… You’ll be shown and get to try some simple techniques for Surfing or Paddle boarding on the safety of the beach.

  • Fun in the water… Time to let you try out what you’ve learnt on land, all at your own pace.

  • And chill…. After the session, you’ll be able to warm up with a free hot drink as well as being offered some things to try out at home to keep up your new-learnt skills!

Who are Shaka Surf?

Shaka Surf is a small family-run water sports business, which was first set up by its friendly owner Mark in 2015. Located at Branksome Dene Chine, the award-winning blue flag beach offers some lovely small waves as well as great flatwater fun.

You're in safe hands....

You'll be working with our lead female instructor, Sarah, who’s fully ISA and lifeguard qualified. Sarah has a passion for building confidence through her teaching and helping others to feel great. She's also a mum to Ferris and wife to CJ, so completely gets the whole work/life balance struggle and the need to take time out to focus on you!

Sarah will be partnered by Claire, who also loves having fun in the water. She's our wellbeing expert and loves to help build confidence and calm through mindfulness tools and techniques. Claire also has three children - James, Immy and Eti - so equally understands the importance of finding time for fun!

What do you need to bring?

Not much! All the equipment - including wetsuits and boards - is provided for you. You’ll just need to bring a towel, some sunscreen, water to keep you hydrated, and lots of enthusiasm!

How much is the session?

Each session is £60, which includes everything you see listed above. It also includes all wetsuits and equipment - plus a free hot drink as a welcome reward after all your efforts on the day!

We can’t wait to see you there!
